You Can Be Your Best Self

How I Can Help

As a Health and Wellness Coach, my role is to support, guide, motivate, andinspireyou to make those choices or changes that you feel are best for you.  Your individualized program will be based on your specific health goals and each session we will focus on what steps you can take to reach those goals.  By implimenting an action plan and holding you accountable for that plan you can create success in your life and reach your goals.

I offer support in a variety of waysFirst and foremost I will listen to you  I will listen as you tell me what's important for you, what your goals are, and what you want to accomplish from our time together.  Second I will provide personalized recommendations that  I believe will get you to the next level towards reaching your goals.  Third, we will implement concrete and firm action steps for you to take and be held accountable for, so that each session when we "check in" we can celebrate your accomplishments.  A healthy lifestyle is an ongoing journey.  Your journey will be paved with successes which will help keep you focused and motivated throughout the program and after.  Lastly, you will not be alone through the process.  In addition to two 50 minute sessions per week,  I will be available through email support between sessions if you need inspiration, motivation or have a question.

Food choices alone do not create a healthy lifestyle.  There must be balance in all areas of your life to be truly healthy and ultimately happy.  So in addition to food choices, we may delve into other aspects of your life that may be keeping you from making the changes you want. Using a tool called the Circle of Life we can determine which areas of your life may need extra TLC and which are doing pretty well right now.  We can then focus our attention on those areas which could include relationships, career, spirituality, finances or exercise.  Most clients come to me initially seeking a change in their food choices but quickly realize other areas need attention in order to help get the food aligned with good health.  This is the holistic approach to wellness.  We do not live in a vacuum as each of these areas are paramount to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.  Each are entertwined with good nutritional practices and I believe you cannot be truly healthy without all areas in alignment.

To illustrate how a holistic approach and how all areas of our life affect each other take a look at the following questions:

  • Does stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to overeat?
  • Does lack of sleep or low energy prevent you from exercising?
  • Do you eat to cover up unhappy feelings?

We can work to clean up your diet to help align other areas of your life.

My approach is not to dwell on calories, carbs, fats, and proteins. I do not believe in counting calories, points, or fat grams.  I will never create lists of restrictions or good and bad foods. Instead, I work with my clients to create a happy, healthy life in a way that is flexible, fun and rewarding.  Healthy food should be and can be integrated into your life as it exists right now.

Together we’ll work to reach your goals in areas such as achieving optimal weight, reducing food cravings, increasing sleep, and maximizing energy. As we work together, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of the food and lifestyle choices that work best for you and implement lasting changes that will improve your energy, balance and health.

Here are some concepts that we will explore during our work together:

Bio-individuality™: The concept of bio-individuality is that each person has unique food and lifestyle needs. One person’s food is another person’s poison, and that’s why fad diets tend to fail in the long run. Working on the principle of bio-individuality, I’ll support you to make positive changes that are based on your unique needs, lifestyle, preferences, and ancestral background. I use a personalized, holistic approach to ensure that you will have great success!

Primary Food™: It’s easy to overlook all of the things that contribute to our sense of nourishment and fulfillment. It’s not just the food we eat, but all of the other factors present in our daily lives. Healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical activity and a spiritual awareness are essential forms of nourishment. When these “primary foods” are balanced, what you eat becomes secondary. I will support you in achieving all of your goals, from eating the right foods for your body to living an inspired, fulfilling life.

Choosing a Healthy Plate: A Healthy Plate emphasizes the importance of local and organic fruits and vegetables, whole grains, high-quality proteins, plant-based fats, and water. As a Plant Based Health Coach I believe that the power of health comes from plants.  I believe that by limiting (not necessarily excluding) animal products you increase your health and decrease your chance for sickness. Choosing ethically raised animal products with no added hormones, chemicals, GMOs, and antibiotics is key to finding good health. What an animal eats you eat so this is something we will focus on in our time together if you choose to eat animal products.  You will learn how to divide your plate with vegetables, whole grains, protein, and healthy fat so that you get optimal nutrition at each meal.

By being open to new things you will try some of the healthiest foods on the planet and discover how they work (or don't) for your unique body!
